01 What Happened
Eawag、Empa、Agroscope は 9 月 10 日、スイス WWTP からの microplastics 排出について初の全国推計を発表した。人口の約 44% をカバーする 51 施設から、>20 µm の粒子が年間約 4.7 tonnes 流出すると推定した。
非常に低濃度の effluent を直接測るだけでなく、ほぼすべての粒子が付着していた activated sludge の sludge flocs を分析し、通常測定される floc loss と組み合わせた。
Municipal と industrial WWTP に体系的差はなかった。Empa は atmospheric deposition により年間約 10 tonnes がスイス水域へ入ると推計している。
