01 · USER INPUT

Design basis and inputs

Leave this off for exact entered reference points. When on, document the source above and confirm it covers this reactor/model, target/reference dose, UVT basis, lamp/configuration, and operating envelope. ATLAS does not independently verify the source or interpolation rule.

Entered reactor performance/reference data

Enter two or more unique UVT points for one reactor at the entered reference dose. Rows can be entered in any order.

UVT (%)Entered reference flow capacity (m3/h/reactor)Remove

Use UVT values at the same wavelength and optical path length as the entered external reference data; EPA UVDGM commonly uses 254 nm and 1 cm. No absorbance or path-length conversion is applied. Each UVT must be greater than 0% and no more than 100%. Each entered reference flow capacity must be positive. Duplicate UVT values are rejected.

Runs locally in this browser from entered reactor performance/reference data.

Engineering Basis

Methodology

Sizes duty and standby reactor counts from entered external UVT/capacity reference points, using an exact point by default. Interpolation is allowed only when the documented external source authorizes it for the applicable reactor and operating envelope; there is no extrapolation or automatic regulatory dose credit.

At an exact design UVT match, capacity is taken from that exact entered reactor performance/reference point.

For an intermediate UVT, bounded linear interpolation is available only when the user confirms that the external validation/reference source permits this capacity relationship for the applicable reactor/model, target/reference dose, UVT basis, lamp/configuration basis, and operating envelope, and documents that source. This interpolation is user-authorized from entered external reference data; ATLAS does not independently validate it. No extrapolation is used.

EPA UV reactor validation is based on reactor-specific validated operating conditions. Dose/RED relationships with flow, UVT, lamp status/intensity, and other operating parameters depend on the reactor and validation method. ATLAS does not derive a generic UV dose-monitoring equation. Boundedness alone does not establish that linear interpolation is valid.

UVT values must use the same wavelength and optical path length as the entered external reference data; no absorbance or path-length conversion is applied.

Duty reactor count = ceiling(plant design flow / capacity per reactor from entered external reference data). Installed count = duty reactors + entered standby reactors.

Operating duty power = duty reactors x entered per-reactor electrical power. Standby reactors are not assumed energized.

The user-selected target dose must match the user-entered reference-dose value; neither dose value is calculated by this tool.

Scope / Limitations

  • An exact entered reference point is the default. Bounded linear interpolation is available only when the user documents that the external source authorizes it; the tool does not extrapolate or establish validated UV dose credit.
  • This is a screening calculation over user-entered reactor performance/reference data. The tool does not verify the external source or the entered data and does not establish regulatory UV dose credit.
  • Lamp power, flow, and UVT alone are not used to derive UV dose. The tool does not model reactor physics or CFD.
  • No theoretical fluence, RED, Validation Factor, pathogen dose requirement, organism-specific log inactivation, dose-monitoring equation, lamp/intensity physics, organism credit, manufacturer selection, or regulatory compliance logic is calculated.
  • Use the UVT wavelength and path length specified by the external source (EPA UVDGM examples commonly use 254 nm and 1 cm).
